Traditional International Scientific Conference, called: “Sustainable agriculture and rural development in function of achieving strategic goals of the Republic of Serbia within the Danube region – achieving regional competitiveness”, which was held in Topola, in period 05th-07th December 2013 year.

Conference represents results on the project III 46006 “Sustainable agriculture and rural development in function of achieving strategic goals of the Republic of Serbia within the Danube region”, project period 2011-2014 year, which is financed by Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.
Conference where organized in cooperation between Institute of Agricultural Economics, Belgrade and other 34 eminent institution from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Russia, Romania, Norway, Italy, Germany, The Netherland, Slovakia, Poland, Moldova, under the patronage of Ministry of Education, Science and Technical Development of the Republic of Serbia..

With presence of great number of visitors from Serbia and foreign countries, Scientific Conference was open with welcome speech of president of the Municipality of  Topola, Mr. Dragan Jovanović. To attended personas was addressed prof. Drago Cvijanović, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Economics, who addressed to audience with congratulation and gratitude, because they magnified the Conference and wish them successful work at the Conference. Welcome speech also had: prof. Radovan Pejanović, Vice rector of University of Novi Sad (otherwise, president of the Balkan Scientific Association of Agricultural Economics); prof. Nicolae Istudor, Vice rector of Academy of Economic Studies from Bucharest, Romania; prof. Aleksandra Despotović, Vice dean from Biotechnical Faculty, Podgorica, Monterengro.
In frame of plenary session, the papers are presented: prof. Ana Ivolga, from Stavropol State Agrarian University; prof. Masahico Gemma, from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan; as well as B.Sc. Nina Weber, from Federal Institute of Agricultural Economics, Vienna, Austria.

On the second day of the Conference, in frame of three sessions, has been presented 92 paper work, with 176 authors. Through papers are synthetized new knowledge in economy of knowledge and human capital, bioregionalism and permaculture, as well and process of building agro-regional identity through the institutional reforms..
In front of science audience is presented as well and project NO-BLE Ideas Network – which presents connecting between young researchers in agri-food sector, through creating the sustainable ideas.
On the third day of Conference, has been held the regular meeting of Assembly of the Balkan Scientific Association of Agricultural Economics, where was, besides of presenting of brand new published books of Institute of Agricultural Economics, held the celebration on the occasion of 60th anniversary of publishing the Journal of Economics of Agriculture and award celebration to colleagues who are responsible for promotion of Journal..

At Conference was held and round table with theme “Organic production – state and possibilities”, which are caused large interest of present guests and caused large discussion, on which is confirmed the success of Conference.
The International Scientific Conference is evoked large interests, which confirmed the visit and active participation of large number of participants from country and foreign. Papers which was published after positive reviews, emphasis the significant and actuality of themes in Serbia and counties at the Balkan, as well in the European countries.
